Luxury sauna made from premium wood
This sauna is crafted from selected African wood species Thermo Abachi and Thermo Ayous, which are among the most suitable materials for demanding sauna environments. Both woods undergo controlled thermal modification at temperatures of approximately 180–215 °C without the use of chemical agents. During this process, sugars, resins and organic components responsible for internal stress, odors and biological instability are eliminated.
The result is a material with significantly reduced moisture absorption, excellent dimensional stability and long-term resistance to extreme temperatures and humidity. Thanks to its open porous structure, the wood naturally regulates humidity inside the sauna, supports a stable microclimate and contributes to even heat distribution throughout the cabin. The absence of resins ensures that the wood remains odor-free and hygienically clean even at high operating temperatures.
Thermo Abachi is additionally characterized by extremely low thermal conductivity, ensuring that benches, backrests and contact surfaces remain comfortable to the touch even at temperatures exceeding 90 °C. In its dark thermo-treated version, the wood gains a deep, homogeneous color that remains stable over time and requires no additional surface treatment. The use of solid boards in continuous lengths without joints further enhances structural strength and highlights both the technical and visual quality of the interior.
OKA Design – collaboration with architect Ondřej Kamenický
The OKA Design collection was created in collaboration with architect Ondřej Kamenický, with whom HANSCRAFT has long cooperated on the development of premium wellness products, particularly hot tubs. This partnership stands behind the successful OKA and OKANDINAVIA product lines, known for their refined material work, balanced proportions and calm, timeless expression.
Building on this experience, the collaboration was extended to the sauna category. Ondřej Kamenický designed saunas for HANSCRAFT that naturally follow the OKA Design language and place the same emphasis on material quality, technical clarity and interior harmony. The result is a Finnish sauna that feels less like a standalone product and more like an integral part of a complete wellness concept.
Interior and atmosphere
The interior is designed with ergonomics and comfort for up to four people in mind. A double bench made from dark Thermo Abachi is complemented by a comfortable backrest, allowing a relaxed seating position even during longer sauna sessions. The low thermal conductivity of the wood ensures pleasant contact even at high operating temperatures.
A carefully designed ambient lighting system positioned under the benches, near the footrests and on the rear wall creates subtle light accents without visual disturbance. A dominant interior feature is the starry ceiling with a black base, creating a visually calm and focused environment. The space is enclosed by 6 mm tempered dark grey glass with black handles and hinges, combining safety, functionality and modern design.
Technology and construction
The OKA Pure Essential 4 sauna is designed with a strong focus on long-term stability, precise control and reliable operation in demanding sauna conditions. Heating is provided by a 6 kW HANSCRAFT electric heater integrated into a complete heating system with a touch control panel. The system enables fast heat-up and accurate temperature regulation. An intelligent WiFi controller allows convenient remote operation via the Smart Life mobile application and easy adaptation to individual user preferences.
The construction is complemented by a rear wall clad in thin black slate stone, contributing to heat accumulation while also serving as a distinctive aesthetic element. The lower parts of the sauna are treated with Black Sauna Wax, increasing resistance to moisture and mechanical wear while unifying the dark appearance of the interior. The entire solution is designed to maintain technical reliability, dimensional stability and functional performance even during long-term use. An integrated floor is also part of the construction, designed specifically for sauna environments and easy maintenance.
